I lowered my car with some Tein S Tech springs, and failed to change the shocks/struts @ the same time...So now my stock struts are probably shot to hell...

Just out of curiosity, what does driving on worn out shocks feel like? If it feels like you have air ride in your car, or hydraulics, then I definitely have worn out struts!!!

I don't believe lowering your car would effect the performance of the struts. They'll do what they did before, just at a different location along their range of travel.

By lowering the car, however, you've placed the range of travel closer to the "bottom-out" bumper. I'm sure you considered that before having it lowered and were willing to sacrifice the suspension travel for the look you desired.

Shocks and struts are two differnt things that perform the same function. If you have struts, when the seal begins to go bad they can begin to fill up with water and muck from wet roads and the ride gets stiff because they don't plunge in and out as easily. When sediment builds up in the bottom, the travel can be impeded altogether and the ride will feel like you have no suspension.

When a shock wears out, it just goes along for the ride and doesn't do it's job of stabilizing the wheel after going over a bump. The result is a continued bouncy bouncy bouncy up and down, up and down. The shock's job is to stop the bouncy bouncy, and a worn shock won't.

Just as an aside, Germany was researching some phenominal compounds during the 2nd WW, and the fluid-filled shocks on my '55 Volkswagen have never leaked, and still work like new. Amazing, eh?

I lowered a Honda I had many moons ago, and I was very happy with the lowering job until I sold it. I did it myself without a kit or instructions. I simply cut one loop off the two front coil springs, and about 1/4 inch from each lower control arm. I don't know what the mileage was when I did it, but I drove it like that until it had 235,000 on the odometer.

when riding on shot struts it feels like your bouncing down the road because you basicly have no suspension. having installed lowered springs just intensifys the feel that much more. i suggest you get a brand new set of high preformance struts. try koning adjustable struts you can adjust the sensitvity of the strut giving you a much smoother ride .also KYB makes a cheaper price set of adjustable struts if your budget is tight.

lowering your car and not upgradeing the shock WILL blow them out because its keeping them farther compressed than usual. The ride itself, will feel like total hell. Every bumb you hit, will knock everything in the car and probably hurt lol. You will get to the point where you crindge when you see a bump coming. Then the car will just keep bouncing, like if you were on just spring with nothing to stop the bounce.

bouncy bouncy bouncy
Push down on the bumper - let go. If it doesn't come back up and stop....the struts are shot
