That is a good question, because so many drug dealers know how dangerous the stuff is and has killed a lot of people should be tried for mass murder, and endangering the lives of people knowing that the drugs they sell can do harm to anyone. I thought they already have those type of laws, and why aren't they using these laws to charge these drugs dealers, suppliers, and makers. They treat and press charges against drunk drivers worst than these bad drug dealers and makers. What is wrong with our justice system?

In some countries, drug smuggling and drug dealing carry the death penalty. I do know that we are losing the "war" on drugs. People won't do more drugs if they are legal, and people don't do less drugs if they are illegal. The penal system does not adequately address the problem, obviously, because our jails and prisons are overcrowed with drug users and dealers, but it isn't stemming the tide one bit. Threatening to kill people won't help kick an addiction any more than prohibition prevented alcoholism. Drug addiction is a personal problem, one that is very common. Drug dealers are exploiting and encouraging the problem, but they are not the cause of the problem. The problem lies within the person doing the drug, not the person supplying it.

Drugs have been around ever since humans figured out that eating those mushrooms makes the world really interesting. It's not going to go away, and the problem is more with our draconian laws.

Not to say that dealers who sell heroin to kids are cool, but we need to seriously rethink things. First off, pot- not that bad. Less dangerous in some ways than alcohol. So why is it illegal? It's all the tobacco people's fault in the first place, rather than a logical or moral objection. Secondly, we need to stop treating addicts like criminals and start, you know, treating them. Alcoholism isn't cured by jail time, so I'm not sure why we're surprised that crackheads are repeat offenders.

If the War on Drugs isn't working, we don't tougher sentences; we've tried that already. All we've gotten are more inmates. We need to rethink the war.

If so the law would have to change so that drug dealing would be a capital crime. Capital crimes are the crimes that are punishable by death.

I know that when I was in the Army stationed overseas the crime rate was lower than it is in the US. One of the reasons was that they would cut off a hand for stealing, poke an eye out for adultry, or 30 lashes on the back for other crimes. Imagine if we had that here in the US.

This is something that's never going to happen because the people who sell the drugs are the same with those who invented the death penalty.

I think that drug charges should only go on to the death penalty if the person is distributing drugs to many other people.

No way. I don't even know if some murders should carry the death penalty. I'm sure if you talk to drug addicts who've recovered and become productive members of society they would probably disagree with you.

no not death unless you cause the death of someone. we have to stay civilized and give second chances if not we would be just as wacky as all those other foreign countries who have no right to speech or personal opinion. the laws should be tougher living here in the U.S. is a privilage and somethings should be stripped from you if you are not willing to walk the line of the law.
