I'm not married, but from boyfriends I've slept next to in the past, I'm pretty sure I could never sleep next to another squirming body every single night. I'd need to take the couch or a different bed so I could sprawl out on it and actually get a good night's sleep. Any of you married folk have such sleep troubles? I understand about 'love,' but is it necessary to lose healthy sleep over it? No one else really knows where you sleep at night, anyway.

I will never understand why my mother, who constantly complains about my father's horribly loud snoring and probably hasn't had a restful night of sleep in her married life, still continues to sleep next to him.

Ha. Seriously, I can't believe bed is the only place some couples have sex, either. Talk about boring. Sex anywhere but the bed is generally 80 times better.

You don't need to sleep together, although it is nice...if you both are getting a good night sleep. My husband and I don't sleep together and it's not a big deal. It would be nice if he went to bed at the same time as me and didn't snore and didn't hog the covers and toss and turn all night, but it's not a perfect world, is it?! I'd much rather wake up refreshed than mad at him because he kept me up all night.

Well, I have been married for 31 years, and I have such a hard time sleeping when I'm not in the same bed as my wife, just knowing she is lying next to me gives me comfort. when she has to go out of town or I'm out of town alone, we just don't sleep very well. She snores (pretty loud I might ad) but I love the sound of her little noise and being able to cuddle up. I hope to continue for another 30 or more. That is what love is all about..

There is no set rule that married couples have to sleep next to eachother. Yes- they mostly do anyways, but it is not imperative. Sleeping in the same bed just signifies the togetherness of the couple, and is a symbol of their sharing. Wedded couples are suppose to share everything with eachother, emotionally and physically- and it kinda adds on to that bonding. Now i am sure that your husband would understand that you dont always want to sleep in the same bed as him, just tell him your situation- say its nothing against him (because its not), its just that you like more space

It depends on the couple. As long as the husband doesn't take offense and understands that that works. Cuddling and intimate moments together, but when it comes to Z's ya sure..i mean..not like ur gonna notice he/she isnt there when ur fast asleep. No, it isn't a requirement. Long as it's agreed upon then it's alright. Sometimes love finds ways though to get use to the faults of one bed. Your mom came from traditions and she respected them and followed them, but doesn't mean it's "law" or "right" it's jus how she was.

I'm married and we don't sleep in the same bed. My friends think were nuts though ... some even ask how we have sex? I am thinking if the ONLY place you ever have sex is in bed at night with your husband ... then I'm sorry

haha :)

You do not have to sleep in the same bed, though your husband may want to and find this unusual. I have a big king size bed so I can be on one side and him on the other. Maybe you would need to push two king size beds together. LOL

I guess it's because it's tradition. After having been married for 10 years now, my wife and I are used to sleeping in the same bed together, besides there are times when we cuddle because we get cold.

And we like the closeness.

I would advise you to get a bigger bed, try a king size, or ca king, there is plenty of room! I like sleeping in the same bed as my husband, it is comforting having him next to me. =)

All married folks aren't expected to sleep in the same bed, and many don't....

coz you love each other..and you get used to sleeping with one another..when my husband isn't next to my i cannot fall asleep. Though i know it's more comfortable sleeping alone, it's just not the same.
