what should i do?in order to figure out if i really do know this person and why this person is sending me an email, i have to open it and what if its a virus?is there any way i can like scan it or know who sent it to me without opening it?
the person is called "meggy" and the subject is "some of these components will be linear; others will be non-linear." i think it might be an email for one of my questions i posted.but i never asked anything about linear or non-linear.

It's SPAM and may contain a virus or something.

Just DELETE it, don't even open it.

Unless you are using an e mail client such as Outlook Express you can not scan an e mail.

If you are using web-mail and reading your e mail on the web, most e mail services will scan e mail at their servers for virus.

It is called "spam" and most people get hundreds of e mail a week from people that they don't know.
Just delete them without opening them to be safe!

I would just delete it myself, I got one of those also and I don't even know a MEGGY nor have I inquired about any such questions concerning linear or non-linear. Spammers will use ANY topic or name to try and get you to open their junk mail. Take care.......

you can scan it in your mail box for a virus before you open it. But like always, if in doubt you can always delete it.
