The reason im asking this because in films ive watched some of them involved hacking and its not the same in real life. I have looked around the internet to find out how hackers hack and hackers are using linux and these other operating systems which is different to Microsoft Windows XP SP2, what im trying to find is how to hack using the operating system i listed which is Microsoft Windows XP SP2. So how do hackers hack using Microsoft Windows XP SP2?

There is also social engineering (find out passwords by various methods).
A fairly new method of hacking is DOS (Denial Of Service) attacks. These are specially modified PING programs which send massive packets of data to websites thus bringing it down. Most websites worth their salt have protection for this kind of attack now.

Not really an answer but if you hunt around on a p2p prog and enter the word hack in the search field, there are some PDF documents around that give detailed instructions on how to hack most games/software releases. Not for the basic user mind!
