I know they say that it is 9 months, but isn't it typically longer than 9 months?

It's 40 days, which if you divided that out by a typical 4 weeks in a month would actually equal ten months. The first 4 weeks you don't even know you are pregnant. That is when you have your period then ovulate, the egg is fertilized, etc...
