Actually...videos were made BEFORE MTv came along. These were mostly for record executives & such. BUT if what you are really asking is... What was the first music video MTv played, it is The Buggles "Video Killed The Radio Star." And for those saying Queen you are wrong. Black Sabbath were before Queen (in '68-'69) with the videos they made. Queen did not come out with BR until '76

Impossible, because there are actual music videos on youtube made in the 60's, so you can't say it was Queen. Buggle was the first video to be played on MTV and The Who was the 4th wooo soz I just bum the Who lmao

Queen are always said to have made the first ever music video with Bohemian Rhapsody which was made when they got to number one but couldn't make it to play on Top of the Pops, so they made a video and sent it in.

It probably was Dylan with 'subterranean homesick blues'.
Don't know if that counts as it was the title sequence for the 'Don't look back' documentary film.

The Beatles made promotional films for 'Penny Lane' and Strawberry Fields' intended for use in their absense.

'Bohemian Rhapsody' was probably the first promo to actually be shot on video tape rather than film, and certainly the one that really started the ball rolling.

'Video killed the radio star' was the first video shown on MTV

I don't remember the name of the band, but the first video on MTV was "Video Killed the Radio Star". But Bob Dylan made a video for "Subterranean Homesick Blues" decades ago.

I've seen a very period-looking video for "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" by Bobby V, which is somewhere in the early sixties.

Hi trevor - it's widely recognised that Queen did that with Bohemian Rhapsody in 1975. But I reckon there were earlier attempts that "don't count" because they were just wee clips rather than a full-blown music vid.

So it depends what the definition of "music video" is.
