If you mean the elected politicians (Democrats and Republicans) they aren't concerned about you and I... it's all about power and the money they can make.
Democrats and Republicans do not represent their constituents, they work for their national parties, who in turn pander to the corporations, special interests and lobbyists who donate to them.

Yes and no. Both PARTIES are failing. I personally feel the GOP is liberalizing in that it is every bit in love with centrilization as democrats are. And look how many acts are dual party problems. Mcain-Feingold, and Mcain Kennedy are my 2 favorite vomit-inducing examples of "bipartisanship."
In the strict sense, there are few, if any, genuine conservatives in DC. Liberals and neo-cons. It's an Orwellian nightmare, ain't it?

That's why I'm a green!
I might back off on that feeling if the democratic congress manages to stop the troop escallation, fund alternative energy development, and preserve ANWR, but I doubt all that will happen.

For the current global and domestic situation, I'd say that the conservatives are worse for the US than the liberals. As an independant, I look at situations and not parties. If a party is supporting whats very bad for everyone, I go with their current opposition.
