My friend is definitely model-material and I want to help her with creating something we can send out to companies to get her noticed. I'd prefer answers from people who have successfully done this already. Thanks!

You are not helping your friend if you encourage her to build a portfolio. If she is ever signed, the agency will throw away those photos because they will not show the look they want her to portray.

If you want to help your friend, take some regular photos of her in natural lighting. They should be in simple clothes like a tank top and jeans skirt. She should not be wearing makeup. You could also take some photos in a bikini, but these are optional.

She can take these simple snapshots to opencalls. That is the best way to help your friend.

Hello, if your friend has just the right look, you dont need professional photos to send to agencies, you dont need to show them that she''s trying too hard, a beautiful person looks great anyways, so just get any camera and take the picture, she doesn't need to pose for the camera, just look straight at the camera with no or little make up and mail it to them, and if you are insisting on getting professional picture go to www.geomphotography.com its a website for a photographer who's updating his website and see if he needs models to update his portfolio too. dont forget that these agencies prefer a natural look to discover, they are sick of the proffessional pictures... good luck for ur friend =)
PS: IN HER JOURNEY TO BECOME A MODEL DONT EVER PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT, WHOEVER ASKS FOR MONEY IS A SCAM NO MATTER HOW SINCERE THEY SEEM.

Take alot of pictures in alot of different poses. Like 150-200 pictures. Different hair, clothes, backgrounds, props, jewelry. Everything you can ever think of, take pics of it. Use different lighting and colors, shadows. that way no matter what they will see her at her best and take them to every modeling agency that you can think of. One of them will see something and that will be that. The diversity of the pictures is key.
