Would it be better to rent the season 1 DVD's and watch them season by season until you are caught up?

Or would you speak to someone who's a big fan of the show and let them just bring you up to speed the best they can and jump right into in this Sunday?

The good thing about 24 is that all the seasons stand alone for the most part. Yes, there will be some recurring themes or characters, but even if you have never watched an episode of 24, you can start watching this season and not have too many questions.

As for trying to catch up, I would definitely rent the DVDs or try to watch the reruns on A&E. But be sure to do it when you have lots of free time because once you start watching, you won't want to stop untill you know all the answers at the end of the season. Really, there's too much that happens in a season for someone to be able to just catch you up.

Do both. You can catch up believe me. I came in in the middle of the second season and caught on pretty quickly. Also go to www.fox.com and the 24 page. They'll have an episode guide and the desciption if pretty detailed. I never regretted starting to watch the show and I now own all five seasons that are available on DVD. Be warned that it is rather addictive.

I think you should watch Season 1 first, but then start watching the current season. The other seasons can fit in whenever you have time or let the big fan give you the main points. The first season gets you enough background. Beware, you will get addicted.

It would take forever to watch all of the previous seasons. You should be able to pick up pretty quick if you just start with the new season. I'm sure they will show a synopsis of the last season at the begining of the 1st episode. But be warned once you start watching you will never stop.

I started watching season 3 and that EASILY got me up to speed about the last two seasons. That's what I recommend.
