because their instincts tell them that it is getting colder and they need to insulate themselves. their coats also change and get thicker and smoother.....

I don't think they necessarily gain weight but they do grow a thicker winter coat which sheds by summer.

Getting their winter coats, and less activity like alot of humans do.

substitute humans for cats and you have a simliar reason, lack of exercize, long days,and drat that hair!!!!!where's the potato chips and chocolate?????? just my wacky opinion, boring winter days too!!!! s.t. from oHIo nothing going on here either!!!!
