Sleepovers can be fun - and they're fairly easy to organize. You just need food, movies, music, games, sleeping bags, blankets, and some gals who like to chat. The thing about a good sleepover is the fun doesn't really revolve around planned activities. The fun happens when the gals stay up late talking.

If you want to help your friend have a great sleepover, then think of yourself at the moderator or the emcee... guiding discussion and activities.

And from the experience of planning sleepovers myself - quite a few as a youth director here are a few more ideas -

A good activity starter - a scavenger hunt... You can find ideas for a good scavenger hunt on the internet.

A large collage or art project that everyone can do together - ask everyone to bring at least 2 favorite magazines or books with pictures of stuff they like and a pair of scissors. You'd need some gluesticks. Then everyone cuts out pictures of stuff they like in the book. Before starting the collage, everyone needs to share their pictures and tell everyone why they chose the pictures they did. When it's done, your friend will have a nice little piece of art that everyone created together - another birthday gift.

Instead of the standard pillow fight, have a sleeping bag fight... everyone stands and pulls the sleeping bags over their heads, zip 'em up - no arms, hands, legs, or feet can be used to make contact and NO aggression, but you can sort of do a bumper cars kind of thing and it's crazy fun!

Also fun to do - bring some markers and large poster boards - fold the poster board in half... and each person gets to decorate his/her own. And leave the cards out for everyone to sign throughout the night.

A talent show, lip sync, or karaoke bit of time is also great for laughs and fun - have everyone bring outrageous costume ideas - hats, shoes, boots, scars, boas, jewelry, accessories, clothes, etc. and the costumes come out just for the show.

You could have a manicure/pedicure/beauty break and everyone can give everyone else a makeover. Everyone loves to be pampered.

When you're ready to wind down, a good scary story is always a good ice breaker. If you don't have one to tell, ask if anyone else has one they'd like to share. Most people do have a story to share of something that spooked them. :)

Last but not least, be sure there's a camera... everyone'll want pictures to help remember the night.

All of these activities can be co-ed activities... they're not just girl exclusive! You'd be surprised at just how much fun boys can have dressing up and getting pampered.

OK...you're going to need games. Truth or Dare, board games (especially ones for girls...I don't know what there is now, but when I was a kid, we played Girl Talk)...Get some movies with some cute boys in them...Popcorn and other snacks are a DEFINITE!! Lots of good music...magazines...maybe paint each others nails or do each others hair...just a bunch of girlie stuff!!! You'll have a bunch of fun!!! Good luck!!

get lots of nice food and sweets too (but not too many 'cos you don't want people feeling ill)............sometimes it's good to have a DVD on in the background so that it's there for you to pick up on little bits if the conversation dies down. here are some ideas:

- lots of food & drinks
- easy viewing DVD
- games (that aren't complicated - try truth or dare for a laugh)
- music
- you'll need lots of space

You should take her out to her fav restaurant, then let everybody at her house prepare, then you bring her home and the lights are turned out so you can't really see anything, then you turn on the lights and everyone yells "surprise" at the same time!!! I hope this helps a little
