How do I animate my website for my church?

The easiest program for putting sites together is Dreamweaver. It is as complicated as you make it.

For animations, JASC's animation shop works well and it is a free program. But you need to create the images from scratch.

A word about animated websites. As a Visual Communications major, I can tell for for a fact that animated websites or anything graphic heavy does not rank high on a users list of top sites. They load too long, they're an eye sore and they can be confusing.

Best keep it simple. You'll make it more user friendly and easier to use.

If you want an interactive website, Flash can do that. But not everyone will have the plugin or a computer good enough to load it.

What do you want to animate? You could add animated GIFs and those can be found free all over the Internet. But if you want to animate menus and buttons and things like that, I prefer to use Macromedia Flash and/or Macromedia Dreamweaver, which I think you can download for a free trial, but the actual programs are very expensive.

Personal templates for free? You'd be lucky,

However there are a few other options on the net.

1) Use a host that provides templates, Geocities or Freewebs.
2) Google "Free Web Templates" (sorry, I just prefer most Google services)
3) Design it yourself in Dreamweaver or similar.

The best way to do it is to learn how to make Flash animations. Unfortunately, the Flash software does cost a bit of money, but it is definately worth it.

If you don't want to do that, you could also learn how to program in java, but it is very unstable and complicated to use.

Your third option is to download a free program off the net to make GIF images. These are very tiny animations and there is no sound, though.
