I live now in Basque Country, between France and Spain, and as you know Gibraltar, Canarias and surroundigs, South Europe, is the New Frontier and the tragic gap between so called (don't like it) Third World and Occident. Those who arrive here, North, what a luck only being alive! try any chance they give them. The matter is mutual respect, and here we found it and we are reciprocal. Most of black men (I hate the euphemistic and hypocrite 'sub-saharians') find their job at sea, where workhands are needed and youth don't follow the tradition of fishing. When they return from abroad they are quite dandy-looking. No problem. Black people are mostly muslims, so the difference between an arab muslim and a black african muslim is only skin colour and culture. In few months they learn basque language, euskara, and here's another bond to
be accepted. So, in some bars or cafeterias you can find white basques or white americans, "hispanos" or latins from Brazil, Argentine, Venezuela, Ecuador... and if an arab appears selling marchandises you tell him "Salam aleikhum" and he answers "Aleikhum salam" and not always buy, but invites him have a drink... without alcohol, of course.
Often, grape juice or so. If the ***** folks enter, there you have the melting pot you have suggested as an utopia. Well, it's right that things are not always so right with them, that they fall in the mafia nets, that women (and men) are underpaid or__ worst happenings. But here we
go. No place to explain it. It's not unusual, that's so.
