Great question.
It would seem that way. The mother could sue the hospital and Izzie for an unadvised surgery ,but no doubt, Bailey and Shephard would make sure to spell out the risks completely to the girl like they already did. If anyone is to blame, however it is Callie who went out and convinced Shephard to perform the surgery. Of course from a legal stand point it would be difficult if not impossible to place a dollar figure on the girl's life, and that is all that is lost here if Izzie pays for the surgery. But, she should get a release from the mother none the less.
As for the hospital, Bailey will undoubtedly report Izzie to her psychiatrist , a new character on the show. Izzie has an ongoing problem of getting too involved with her patients. Denny was only the tip of the iceberg, she had that quint she had to babysit that died and that man who she illiegally autopsied that died. She needs to learn to distance herself from her patients. She will still get to pay for the surgery but she may be kept out of the OR because she is paying for the whole thing.

Ah! That would suck. Then what would happen to her,...again? Would they ban her from the hospital? Now I am asking question. Essentially, I think that she's gonna scrub in on the surgery, start to go crazy when the girl starts dying on the table, and then get in trouble for loosing her cool. Plus, I dont think she could get in trouble just by paying for it.

the previews for next week show Izzie being reprimanded for becoming too personally involved with something, so your idea is probably on target...

I don't think so, but I do think that if she pays for it she won't be allowed to scrub in on the procedure...too many ethical issues.

She may pay for it anonymously.
Also, I am SURE that the mother will have to sign a release.
