Finding it is up to you. Choose wisely, and don't feel you have to be exotic. Some of the best rocks can be found in your own neighbourhood.

You have to make a house for it. You can do this by cutting off the bottom 2 inches of a (clean) milk carton, decorating the outside with construction paper or cloth, and lining the interior with straw or other soft bedding.

Make sure your rock is clean, so that it will be happy.

You can teach your rock tricks. It can play dead, play catch, and it can also play "who can stay quiet the longest" very well. If you toss it into a swimming pool, it will promptly dive to the bottom and hold its breath indefinitely. Very impressive for family gatherings. Nudge it down a hill and it will roll over, many more times than the average well-trained dog. And of course, when not active, a pet rock will "sit" automatically for as long as you like.

Good luck!

I got a pet rock.
I picked it up off the beach in Petoskey, Michigan
It lives on my mantelpiece and I call it 'Petoskey Stone'
Caring for it is easy...I just dust it down now and again.

You guys in the USA may have heard of 'Petoskey Stone'
Its a natural forming stone only found in Michigan State.
Mine is not the real stuff...just a distant cousin...but I did get it from off the beach there.
I had to hide it from customs when I got back to the UK in case they wanted to quarantine it.

Well first it needs warmth... best kept in a fish tank ... if its a sea rock then treat it like a fish and feed it air. if a garden rock or an outside rock put mud and grass in the tank and feed it 1 worm per month. when the rock crumbles it hasreproduced: you have created a rock generation !!

LOL good luck with that

I've got a Mutant Pet Rock. It is as big as a Boulder. I think I fed it too much Gravel. Whatever you do, DO NOT let it listen to Rock Music after midnight as it will keep you up all night Graveling.

I would assume that you could just go outside and get a rock. Make a bed for it, take care of it like you would a normal pet. I don't think you'd need to feed it though. You could pretend.

If you catch and tame a wild rock, it will need to be fed regularly, since it is used to eating whenever it feels like it.Rock soup is a staple in its diet, which can be supplemented by minerals. No vitamins!! If caught in a stream bed or field, try to similate its natural habitat by keeping it on linoleum, tile, or wood.If it grew up in or near a volcano, keep it as warm as possible:sitting on a fuzzy rug;a visit to the fireplace;occasionally, a hot water bath or sauna;or for everyday, wrapped in a blanket.Caution:give it a strong, rock-solid name!

Go to where there are some rocks. Look at them until you find one you would like to keep as a pet. Keep it. Look after it.

first just go in your back yard, or some where that has rocks about the size of your fist. pick one and wash it well with soapy water. as for taking care of it: well....pet rocks dont eat...so dont worry about that. get a basket or small cage for it thats has good padding so it doesnt crack. and if u play outside with him/her make sure u wash it regularly.
