I'm on the fence with this one.
I believe some people are destined to fulfill a specific duty in life, while others have the option to change paths.
But then I really don't know what I'm talking about.
No one can know for sure.

People... take this seriously...

I don't think you can possibily do so. You see, the "way" in which you think is controlled ultimately by the world as your experience is built upon the events that happen around you. Thereby the way you respod to certain events (your choices) are in a way pre-programed into your system of believe. If agree on this, it also means that from the moment you are born to earth, you have no free will but is subjected to the different possibilities of life, which leads you to certain actions.

Say, if I really like chocolate cakes but I was told in the afternoon that they make you fat. I then weight the pros and cons and decided still to eat it. This action in itself is fuelled by the information I am told and the previous experience I had, and therefore ultimately, it is the society, the people that control your destiny. Not you.

You only live in the illusion that you have control over your actions.

No. I don't. But I believe that no one and no thing does. I believe we just try to do the best we can with the situation in front of us you can nudge things towards which ever direction you wish to take but random chance and other people will affect which ever way you end up going.

Unless you are talking about mental destiny or things like sexuality for instance then there is little or no choice and you are the product of your own mind and influences.

Yes and no. You are given free will so you have the right to make choices. But you don't always have control over the paths you have to choose from.
So, yes you can control your destiny to an extent. You can choose to take drugs or not, you can choose to drive drunk or not, you can choose to do well in school or not, etc. All of these choices have consequences and open up different choices all the time.

For the sake of not being reported for not answering a question, I will say, Yes, I believe I control my destiny to a certain degree. Rules and regulations control how I behave, but ultimatly, I choose my path.

As for the only thing I really wanted to say here...

Nice a,ss.

if you control it, then it isn't destiny, because that word already implies that you have no control over it.

everyone is in control of their own reality. in the end, it's not up to any god, or any leader, or anyone except you. nobody's gonna go out there and get a job for you, or fulfill your dreams, no matter how much you pray or expect it to happen. i won't get into the religion thing because i'd probably offend a lot of someones.

no matter what anyone says, you are in complete control of yourself. or at least, we're born with that capability. some people choose not to, because they're weak, or they need someone else to do **** for them, or tell them what to do. but regardless of that, existence is ours. it's up to us to weave the paths that flow through time. only we can make the right decisions for ourselves.

I believe I have a path that was set out for me to follow but I believe it is my job to find that path and follow it or chose my own path. So yes I believe I am in control of my own destiny.

Not any more. You can influence the details, but the larger picture is controlled by your IQ, your family's money, your race, your gender, etc. Most people really don't deviate that much from what they were born into. Though privileged people do tend to have more say about what happens in their lives than those who are not so privileged.

To a centain degree yes. You know that free will and all kind of leaves the direction ours lives go in our hands.
No bible stuff here sure it is totally up to us which way our lives go now that is not to says that there are forces out there that try to steer us in the right direction. We just have to learn how to listen.

Yes. You are the author of your fate. You choose the paths you take. You choose how you react to everything that happens in your life. It's all up to you! The cool thing is that when you're on the right path, the universe helps you along & drops you little signs. If you're on the wrong path (doing things that are wrong for you, making you unhappy, giving up on your dreams) then it gives you little warnings...but it's always up to you which way you go. So choose wisely! Follow your bliss!
