Dimes from 1892-1964 have .07234 oz of pure silver. Quarters from 1892-1964 have .18084 oz. of pure silver. The 1/2 dollars 1892-1964 have .36169 oz of pure silver. Dollars from 1878-1935 have .77344 oz of pure silver. The silver Ike dollars have .3161 of pure silver. Most silver U.S. coin are actually worth more as collectors items. The great melt of the 1980's have left some common dates, not very common anymore, especially in middle circulated grades, as well as mint state. Anyone melting a silver coin minted before 1892 needs professional help.
