it wasn't empty, there was that stuff that went Bang!
and since it was such a Big Bang, nothing was left of the old stuff, so we cannot figure out what it was.

Empty space did not create the Universe. Assuming the Big Bang marked the beginning of time for our universe (this is not necessarily the same as the beginning of time for other universes), matter has always existed.

Whoever said that empty space created the universe? Not even the Bible says that. It says that the earth was without form. Which means that the materials used to create the earth already existed.

"If the universe replaced into completely empty area with the exception of a small mass of matter that created the universe..?" You kinda have been given it incorrect. the massive Bang CREATED area, in accordance to physics. there replaced into no 'empty area', however the massive bang replaced into area itself (and time) increasing.

It didn't. Space did not exist (nor did time) before the big bang. The explosion created both. The details are still obscure, but may well have to do with dark matter (a subject which is also obscure -- pun not intended).

When you learn to read more, you should study m-theory, because it is able to postulate a "place" and *time* that exists before the creation of OUR universe. Other universes that we can never see (except perhaps in our imaginations) existed and continue to exist in this elsewhere dimension -- which although our universe exists in it, is beyond the perceptions of space time that we are normally able to observe (and may never be able to).

It was never empy. We know that the big bang happened so we know there was some elemental for of energy and possibly even mass. Whether it was a unique anomaly or a repetative process with no beginning or end is unknown and probably wont ever be.

Hm. Good question. Try reading Steven Hawkins "A brief history of time".

i have been asking the same question - if there was no universe, there was just space - and where was that space??? and how was it created... who created that? i dont know... too many questions, too confusing... thats the reason its easier to believe that there was GOD somewhere and he created everything... dont know where was HE though, before creating all this.... forget it.... all the best...

there wouldn't be a bang if it were empty, several string theories suggests dimensional branes collided causing the chain reaction we now call the big bang
