What are podcasts on an ipod?

I have no idea what a podcast is on my video ipod??

A podcast doesn't really have anything to do with an iPod per say. Podcasts are typically short videos, however they can also be spoken words - they are sort of like an infommertial or a TV show like 24/7th Heaven. With iTunes you can subscribe to them, everytime there is a new version you can automatically get the next episode.

There are other sources for podcasts, for example the company I work for distributes information about our products using podcasts through our web site. Not to be found on iTunes;)
