He has peeled off the 'Signed for label' which is to verify to the sender I received it. because he can't be bothered taking it back to the depot he's carefully peeled off the label and put it through my letterbox anyway.

This is 'mail tampering' at worst, and certainly fraudulant behavior as he will have had to fake a signature to take it off the tracking system.

Do I complain (this is the second time he's done it) and risk him losing his job...as the Royal Mail will start an investigation into an allegation this serious. (With evidence).

I know it was this kind of package as I know who sent it, and I have a tracking number - and he left the second part still on the back...

i would complain at least...they may not do more than caution him the first time but if you notice it again keep complaining.

i have had an ongoing issue with getting my lazy postman to post through my fron door as i live in the basement of a georgian house. so by posting my mail upstairs is an illegal offence. so i would complain so it doesnt happen again

If this is the first time he has done this, then speak with him directly regarding the issue however; if this is the second time this has happened, I would report him to your local post office or your consumer affairs office. You can get the phone number to the consumer affairs office by calling 1 800 275 8777 press 5 wait the press 5 again. Someone at USPS can also document this problem and send it to either the post office or the consumer affairs office which can be done via the phone number. I would suggest reporting it your local post office because that is mail tampering and he should not have done such a thing, I work for USPS so I should know.

When i was a postman i used to do it, only because whenever i took a package out the person wasn't in when they said they would. I ended up taking it out three or four times as the load was heavy and i sometimes had to walk 4 miles there and back. When you see your postman give them a warning as everyone deserves this but if you report him and he loses his job and you get someone else they mght be even worse.

My postie signs for my 'signed for' items himself, I'm a little concerned about it but would rather receive my items than not. If you complain then he'll probably find out who complained then you won't receive any mail if you get my drift.

You got the package didn't you?

Why risk him keeping his job and then making a mess of all your mail to spite you.

Thats tough! I would say report it he is doing wrong and should be questioned about it. However, he does know where you live.....
