Here is the rest of that wikipedia article:

"Although fans of both Kong and Godzilla argue to this day, Toho has declared that King Kong was meant to win. Not only was King Kong the star and hero of the film, but Kong was much more popular than Godzilla at this time, and was the obvious choice to win audiences over."

Guess who's more popular now? Let's look at their track record: King Kong: 7 movies. Godzilla: 28 movies.

Godzilla would eat the big monkey for breakfast!!!

Sorry, you asked this question 40 years after they made a movie about it.

The fight leads you to Presume that kong wins, however there is room for speculation and doubt.

Here is the excerpt from wiki on the fight:

"The next morning, Kong meets up with Godzilla and the two begin to fight. Godzilla eventually knocks Kong unconscious but then a thunder storm arrives and revives King Kong, giving him the power of an electric grasp. The two begin to fight, Kong shoving a tree in Godzilla's mouth, Godzilla lighting it on fire, burning Kong's hand. The two monsters fight some more, tearing down Atami Castle in the process, and eventually plunge into the sea. After an underwater battle, only King Kong resurfaces and begins to slowly swim back home to Faro. As Kong swims home onlookers aren't sure if Godzilla survived the underwater fight but speculate that it was possible."

In the movie, King Kong wins, sort of. The battle never really finished (Kong being revived with bolts of lightning...never did care for that bit).

As for me, Godzilla would always come out the winner. Yes, Kong is quicker, but Godzilla packs more of a punch. Also, Kong has no real weaponry, while the Big-G has his Atomic Breath, as well as his tail (which can do a ton of damage....just ask Rodan, King Gidorah, Hedorah and all the rest that got whacked with it).
Oh, and one other thing....Godzilla has scales, which act as armor. Kong has hair, but that would get singed off pretty quick.

Undoubtedly Godzilla - he would BURN King Kong to smithereens. I mean seriously, before Kong got close Godzilla would have turned him into a blackened corpse! Also, Godzilla is agile (a giant monster though he be), can breath underwater, heals quickly, is really strong, has sharper teeth, a long tail to lash out with, has defeated every monster to come against him...need I go on?

Of course, some idiot made a movie where Godzilla and King Kong tied. They also said Godzilla had the brain the size of a marble, while Kong was way smarter. So that was really stupid.

Anyway, there's your answer.

Just so you know, there IS a movie King Kong vs. Godzilla, though the winner depends on which version you watch, heheh. In the Japanese version, Godzilla is the victor, but in the American version King Kong is the victor >_<. GOJIRA WOULD CRUSH THAT LITTLE APE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! >_< (btw, Gojira is the original Japanese name of Godzilla ^_^) and just so all you people know, GODZILLA IS FREAKING HUGE (in the series that included KK vs. G, Godzilla is approximately 50 meters, or 164 feet tall) and King Kong is a bit bigger than a two story house (though for the movie, he was blown up to 45 meters, or 148 feet tall, just to attempt to match Gojira's size). You do the math >_<
All Gojira would have to do is squash KK under one foot, just like he did Bambi in the cartoon "Bambi meets Godzilla" (there really IS a cartoon called that >_<)

King Kong is 40 feet tall and Godzilla is 150 feet tall. Godzilla will step on him and crush him.

King Kong has more agility. Godzilla is cool and all but he has short arms and moves slowly. But if he caught Kong with a good radioactive blast that could change the outcome.

I've got to go with Godzilla on this one. Kong is tough and all, but doesn't Godzilla breath fire? Game over...

I'd have to vote for Godzilla on that one. He can breath fire, so he could burn the hell outta kong before kong even got close enough to hit him.
