I will describe him. His legs and claws are purple and his top body portion is like a orange. I know at the fish store he was considered rare. He was like 13$. Anyways thanks.

Anyway, there are very few types of freshwater crabs - and most of those are actually brackish - and none that I know of that are legally available commercially. You probably have a saltwater crab that has been "adapted" to freshwater. While he will be fine for a while, he will eventually need saltwater for him to thrive and not die prematurely.


Edit: Boy is he ever cute, just a baby though and I'm afraid I can't be any more specific. It could be a purple-claw or a black-claw, or smething else entirely. I would consult a Saltwater forum, as I do think he is a saltwater crab.
