If you believe in either of those, how can you justify it? Where's the evidence? And if you say "Because the Bible says so" then how do you know the Bible is the truth/ how do you know there is a God?

And for evolutionists: what about the idea of irreducible complexity - ie. that there is no part of, say a human, that you can take away and still have viable life - that we are too complex to have evolved?

For the first paragraph I'm talking about ID/creationism.

Also - according to evolution mutations must be advantageous at every stage. So if we were all fish at one stage how did we evolve lungs (for example). There are many questions like that that don't seem to work with evolution.

Neutron. How dare you call me a retard. Maybe I didn't describe irreducible complexity all that well but it's still a valid argument. You can live without eyes but not without a heart. (I know there are organisms without a heart). Unless you believe that organs evolved all at once then there must have been stages where we had a heart that wasn't really a heart. Why would evolution favour that? It has no advantage until it's finished.

Just so you know I do believe in evolution but there are some pretty big gaps in the theory.

Evolution is real. It can be demonstrated to be so. Click the link below for an example that was recently reported here on Yahoo news.

As for "irreducible complexity" - that's a red herring. If you simplify the human body, you get a simpler creature. There is nothing that says that we started out as humans from day one (except for the ID folks, of course). Life started as self-replicating chemicals that gradually got more and more complex as it took advantage of niches here and there. Over 10-15 billion years, you can accomplish quite a lot!

Creationism, ID and Evolution are all theories. Theoretically any of them is valid as an explanation to the world as we know, but in Science there's something called the Occam's razor: scientists always have to choose the simplest theory among all that can explain a phenomenon. And Evolution just happens to be the simplest and most likely one.
There are fossils to prove that a bird, a very long time ago, was very like to a reptile; through chemical tests we know the physiology similarities between what you might say are species created separately and one at a time; DNA comparisons show humans are much akin to apes. You said we are too complex to have evolved, but you're looking only at the final product, people as we are today, and forgetting the long process behind it. And also nothing on earth is a final product. Have you ever heard of DNA mutations? They're going on all the time, everywhere. They are real and proven, and are one of the main forces that keep Evolution happening.

I am a creationist and I still believe that, maybe, just maybe, God did use evolution to bring the world into existence. Let me explain:

The Bible says that God created the world in three days. But, also in the Bible, there are instances where a "day" isn't actually a literal 24-hour day. For example, in the Book of Daniel, Daniel states that it will be "488 days" until the Messiah would come. In actuality, it was 488 years TO THE DAY from this prophesy until the day Christ rode into Jerusalem.

So, if a "day" can be longer than 24 hours, could this not explain why the world is much older than some believe? Let's look at the planets, for example. It takes the Earth approximately 365 days to orbit the sun (1 year). And a "day" on Earth measures 24 hours. But, are these measurements standard throughout the universe? No, they're not even consistent in our own solar system. Mars' day is 24.6229 hours, slightly more than Earth. But, it's revolution around the sun takes 687 days; almost double that of Earth. Other planets are even more different: Jupiter day: 9.8 Earth hours, year:11.86 Earth years. Pluto: Each day on Pluto takes 6.39 Earth days. Each year on Pluto takes 247.7 Earth years (that is, it takes 247.7 Earth years for Pluto to orbit the Sun once).

Once you get out of the solar system, distance has to be measured in light years, or the time it takes a beam of light, traveling @ 186,000 miles per SECOND to go one year. For example, it takes one light MINUTE for a beam of light to reach the Earth from our sun.

So, which "day" was God using to measure time?

There is a faith in creationism, and one in evolution. Evolution hasn't been scientifically proven or verified, but rather theories have been set forth and analyzed in terms of the study and development of species over the millenias.

I believe in intelligent design. Look at the earth around you. Volcanoes, earthquakes, wildfires, and floods couldn't have themselves molded the earth into the ecosystem it is today (and continue to mold it.) I believe God set forth the processes for animals and plants to evolve in terms of physical characteristics, but those changes do not occur without His oversight. If God does not intend for an animal or plant to mold and develop a certain characteristic because it is not in His vision, it will not happen. Did humans evolve from apes? Who knows. But then wouldn't Adam and Eve had to have been apes?

That something could be "too complex to have evolved" is a n assumption that itself needs support. You can't "take away part of" a human because humans develop from one cell - you could take away or change processes in development, and still have viable life. That is what evolution does, in fact.

evolution only tells us what happened after cretion, not how the universe and life first came about, and creationism does not rule out evolution, why could evolution not be a part of the creation? it is possible to believe in both, ie guided evolution. obviously creation cannot necessarilybeproven at present but there is just as much evidence to support a creator as there is to support evolution.

All three. Creationism, Intelligent design and Evolution. The spiritual energy that we are born into as sentient beings is one and the same energy that we could term as God energy or Christ consciousness. Like Christ we joyfully chose to be created from this energy into our sentient forms at birth. A very intelligent design evolving cleverly over the ages. In the case of human beings we forget that this energy is within us choosing to mask it with our ego selves during our existence here on Earth. Other sentient's such as animals do not have ego`s perhaps this is why so many easily survived the Malaysian Tsunami? Christ was very conscious of his source energy while on Earth. Like Christ we all joyfully return to source energy in death. It is very comforting to know that it is within all sentient beings eternally, regardless of their choice of religion.

Irreducible complexity it the argument that if your watch doesn't have a second hand, you don't know what time it is.

TEchnically, both Creation and evolution are faiths.

I believe that God created the heavens and the earth. I have no proof except the Bible, which I have faith is correct.

Scientists believe in evolution. somehow, everything always exsisted (which is unscientific, there cannot be something from nothing), and we evolved from primordial sludge. There is no proof, and the only evidence is based on unreliable dating techinques and wild guesses. They have faith that they are correct.

Take your pick.
