The great thing about finance is that it can lead to a job in anything. I used to be a career counselor at a business school in finance and it was amazing what people went on to do. Hot careers in finance right now include certified financial planning (CFP) (helping people invest their money), investment banking (helping companies make money), and working at hedge funds (helping rich people and large institutions invest their money). Investment banking is a very cyclical industry and job and bonuses can appear and disappear quickly - most jobs require an M.B.A. degree or a CFA designation. On the opposite end of the spectrum is accounting were there are always jobs. I would recommend taking some career self assessment (see source for link to CISS or look for Campbell Interest & Skills Survey on-line) to see which type of finance best suits you. Good luck.

Finance has many opportunities. You gave no indication what your educational background is. What you'd like to do. What experience you have & what you're willing to do to get into a position (education etc.). It also helps to know where you are (for coprorate headquarters etc). How much do you want to make?

I think one of the best money makers would be trading currencies for a major bank or some sort of arbitrage.. On the other hand being a stock broker (with the right company) can also be rewarding.
