I put a Pyrite rock inside my fish tank, but now I'm not sure if it could affect my tank water in some way. Can the pyrite rock release something undesirable like sulfur or iron in some way that may affect my fish?

It may release sulfur, which may increase your acidity levels. Not sure what the iron would do. I recommend taking the pyrite out.

Pyrite is found in two types one of which is stable and the other is not and you can't tell which is which just by looking. The unstable type breaks down forming ferrous sulphate and sulphuric acid both of which are not exactly recommended fish food. There may well be no problem with the specimen you have in your tank but to be on the safe side I would take it out and avoid any potential damage to your valuable stock of fish.

Actually pyrite is a major source of sulfuric acid, but it's likely alright because it's insoluble in water. If you're worried take it out or check the pH every few weeks. I don't think the iron would hurt them honestly.
