this past thanksgiving i was at a house that had:

2: big horses
1: pony
1: lama
1: cat
2: dogs
1: chinchilla
2: Ginni pigs
2-3: ferrets
2: birds
now usually I would say that this is to many animals, but they were all taken well care of, and surprisingly the house didn't smell. all the animals were inside except the pony, horses, and lama. So i don't think you can have to many animals as long as you can take care of them.

That question is hard to answer and it really comes down to how much space, time, money ect. That you have for the pets, as well as the size and needs of the pets in question. Here is a good rule of thumb I try to use.

Dogs, Cats, Birds, and other caged /non-caged animals:

Apartment/condo: a total of 2

House: A total of 1 per bedroom that the house has

Fish and other tanked animals:

Apartment/condo:
No non-tanked pets: 3 tanks of appropriate size with an appropriate number of animals in each
One or more non-tanked pets: 1 tank of appropriate size with an appropriate number of animals in it

House:
No non-tanked pets: 1 tank + 1 tank per bedroom
One or more non-tanked pets: 1 tank + 1 tank per bedroom – 1 tank per other animal.

I have lived in and seen to many cases of people with to many animals so I am very picky about the number I have. I currently live in a four bedroom house and I have two cats and a dog. I do not plan on get anymore anytime soon.

Please note that with all pets you should take into account what there needs are before you get them. A large dog is not appropriate for a same apartment. If you are out f the house a lot bare that in mind before when choosing an animal. Also please try adopting from your local shelter. Everyone loves the purebred this or that, but the best pets I have ever had all came from shelters. If you find you do not have room for more animals, but want to spend more time with them a shelter is also a good place to volunteer.

It depends on the size and personality of the pets, the size of the family, and the size of the house. We once had about 12 tanks of fish, a parakeet, and a 90 pound dog inside an 1100 sq. ft. house, but it wasn't too bad. But even the dog alone can be a handful--she's blind and thinks she's a lap dog.

when your home starts to smell like scat and urine you know you have way to many pets to take care of. Saddly some well meaning people just take on more then they can take care of. If you have a big hart try animal fostering. Most localities have rules on how many pets you can have. The person who the care falls to should make the choice. For me I have found that two fish tanks and two things with four legs is more then enough. Currnetly I have one 46 gallon tank and that is enough for me to enjoy the fish and not spend all my pet time cleaning. if all your pet time is spent cleaning you have to many pets.

Depends on how big your house is (or wherever the pets will stay) how much money and time you have for them.

It would depend on the amount of room you have and if they can be all taken care of.
