Everybody dreams. When you are in REM sleep, you are likely to be dreaming. The question is whether they see things in the dreams.

I would be confident to say that a person who was not blind from birth may dream and see actual physical things that a sighted person takes from granted as being in their dreams (cars, people, animals, etc)

As for a person who was blind from birth, I can tell you they will still dream, just you have to ask what they will "see" in the dream. I would say that the dreams they have would be similar to how they lead their awake lives. They may "see" shapes by feeling their size and texture in the dream, they will hear the sounds and tell distances, they may smell things. So for all intents and purposes, they will see a dream, just not in the same manner as we would.

This is a good and interesting question though. Thanks for making me think a bit today!

No. Unless, they devloped blindness over time. Then, their brain will take those expirences and use them in dreams. If, however, they were blind from birth, then they will never "see" dreams, for they have no grasp of "seeing" in the first place. Of course they, can still hear them!

Wow, what a thoughtful question. I've never thought of that before. Dreams are not seen with the eyes, it's inside our heads, so I'd say yes they can "see" their dreams. Plus if they used to be a sighted person, they can probably close their eyes and remember things they used to see in their heads. Good question!

Yes. All it takes is a mind, not eyesight. Your question is interesting though because I would surmise that blind people "see" their dreams differently than sighted people do.

If they were born blind, they can't most likely would hear sounds during dreams. You need visual stimulus in order to have visual dreams.

Yes. I can. The question you ask is akin to can a blind person imagine, or envision something. Again the answer is yes.
