...what I really wanted to know is what it means when someone ovulates without getting their period 12-16 days later. I have been irregular since age 12, and my entire family is irregular, so I have come to terms with that. My ovulation test came back positive 25 days ago and I haven't gotten a period since, so I was wondering if anyone knows how that can be the case. I just took a progestrine test today to see if the ovulation test was incorrect, just in case. Thank you everyone who responded to my last positing-- it was very helpful.

if you took the ovulation test 25 days ago why not take a pregnancy test and see?

If the ovulation test is the only way that you know you ovulated then it is possible that you didn't really ovulate. Last cycle I had two positive ovulation tests but I didn't really end up ovulating. You can get a positive test if your body is trying to ovulate but then it doesn't.

It could be that the test you took was inaccurate. Home tests often give false results. If you are not pregnant then you did not ovulate when the test said you did.
