I have songs in my iTunes folder but they are not showing up in iTunes until I actually double-click them in the folder. Then iTunes opens up an plays the song and keeps it in the library. How do I get them in the library without having to manually play each one. Between songs, podcasts, books, etc, that would take forever. Thanks.

You can uninstall Itunes and when you re-install it you will be prompted to scan your computer for music files.
