Yeh it is!!!!!!!!! Sad but true, I know cuz i wrote it, and i also did it. I'm 31 now, and it was actually the best thing i ever did. I moved in with a friend who was 18, (Not a boy friend), got a part time job, buckled down at school and got a brill, well paid apprenticeship after leaving school. The police are obliged to return you home if you are not safe, but if you can prove to them and social services, who will be called in, that you are ok, they will leave you alone.
Emancipation of minors is a legal mechanism through which a person below the age of majority gains certain civil rights, generally identical to those of adults. An emancipated minor is free of any authority from his or her parent or other legal guardian. The extension of these rights, as well as the remaining prohibitions, vary according to the jurisdiction.
In most countries of the world, adolescents below the legal age of majority may be emancipated somehow: through marriage, economic self-sufficiency, educational degree/diploma or pregnancy.
In some cases, parental consent is needed to achieve the "emancipated" status. In some cases, court permission

No, it's 16. Otherwise they would become the responsibility of the local authority, i.e. be picked up and go into care. If the relationship with the parents has broken down they would be able to leave home, I guess, at any age - they would be taken on by social workers though. In fact the state has official care of some children 'til 18 I think.

I think they can legally leave home at 14 with the parents permission. To leave without their parents permission they have to be 16. Bet lots of them come back with their tails between their legs when they realise how expensive life is on your own!

It's 16, with parental consent, or 18 without it. 14 is when the parents really can't stand you any more!!! (But it's not right, no).

Mine would not, 14 is a long way from being a adult. Talk about grounded for life, that is what I would do.
