I'm 20 years old and recently moved back in w/the parents. I really want to move out soon but I'm afraid I cannot afford it on my own. I want a roomate, all my friends are already set, and my boyfriend is in Japan in the Navy...does anyone know any good roomate sites?

Then put in your city and search housing.

Don't make yourself financially downtrodden just to move out of your parents home though... get secure first! Make sure you can afford to move out, and not just by procuring a roommate. Good luck!

If you can't yet afford it, then suck it up and stay with Mom and Dad (unless, of course, they are absolutely horrible people). I have only lived with my parents and my ex so far in my lifetime...totally miserable with the latter and this time around I decided that I need to live on my own for at least a year before living with anyone else and I really don't think I could have actually tolerated a roommate at any point and after living with the 'rents and 3 brothers, it's nice to be alone for once in my life. now I am waiting for the 9 more months to go on my lease before moving in with my boyfriend.

There are some really nice rooms for rent. I have enjoyed lots of roommates. Just find someone that ownes the home not just renting. They are more reliable.
Make sure to check out the house rules and be sure you agree. Like smoking or not, bf overnight or not, etc.
Room with a more mature adult woman. She will give you more space than your parents and you'll be on your own. Then you can use her for a rental reference later when you can afford your own place.

First, let me ask you what state are you in? Secondly, you need to get your finances together. I don't know what you do for a living, but you need to have at least 2 months reserves saved. What I mean about reserves is, if your rent will be $400/month you need to have $800 in a savings account. That goes for all of you monthly bills, "AND DON'T TOUCH IT" unless you desperately need to. What line of work are you in? I might be able to help you earn some extra money.

Work and live alone. Roommates cause problems. Try 2 jobs and save money. Bargain shop and don't waste money.
