i hate signing on for £40 a week.
i got made redundant in september 05.
ive only had 4 job interviews since
im doing a college course in hairdressing coz i thought it would help me get a job.
i apply for so many jobs i see advertised
i send my cv off to companys on spec.
even the agencys cant find work for me.
im not fussy about the job but since i live on my own i need to have at least 27 hours if im being payed the national minimum wage.
ive had my cv re-written several times by myself and other people nothing seems to work im lucky if i get an interview.
its starting to affect my confidence and im getting a bit depressed about it.
i just feel useless.
im 24 and i feel my life is just slipping away from me.
what should i do?

Maybe trying going for jobs that are not what you would usually go for - supermarket check out etc. I know it's menial but once you are in a job it is much easier to prove yourself and move up the ladder. It also looks better when applying for other jobs.
I have heard that Asda recruit quite a lot and are good employers.

Right, you say that you would go back to get your GCSE's but cant afford it so your willing to study.
That may be a good thing.
Have you tried finding out about the Train Companies in your area?
Find the company website and see if they are recruiting.
I was unemployed 4 years before I found a site by accident and applied.
I now earn 36,000 a year at professional level as a driver.
Most Rail companies have a jobs section on their website, what have you got to lose?
There is hard work and studying to do but it would be worth it in the long run.
Good Luck and don't give up!!

What should you do? You keep trying. If that doesn't work, you try some more. If that doesn't work, then you try still again, but a little bit differently.
Look for what the bosses who do the hiring are looking for, then think of how you can fit that mold. Right now you have a sales job--selling people on the idea of hiring you.
Smile, spiff yourself up, stand up straight, put on an act of confidence like you are about to do a performance that will win an Academy Award, and go for it. You would be amazed if you knew how simple pleasantness, proper hygene and dress, and a confident manner gets people jobs.

You sound quite depressed which probably comes over to the agencies.
Ask the agencies what they suggest you do to improve your chance of finding a job?
Ask yourself:
Am I looking for the job that is right for me? It could be that your CV does not have the right skills and experience on it for the jobs you are seeking.
Did you get any feedback from the interviews?
Can you do temp work?
Maybe the point is that you are not fussy about the job. A job should be part of your life so maybe you need to work out what it is that you want to do. Work up a bit of enthusiasm about this and then search again.
Maybe have a chat with your doctor as well as you sound quite depressed. You need a bit of "get up and go"
Good luck!

Right you hang in there girl, remember you only need to get lucky once, the odds are in your favor. Jan Feb are not usually good months for getting a new job. A tip from an old hand if you hang around the job Centre a lot the staff will go out of their way to find you employment (to get rid of you) it is an old tactic but it is still effective. Re the C.V. everybody and I mean everybody has their own ideas on the perfect C.V. they are all wrong there is no such beast, pick one that you are happy with and then ignore criticisms (with extreme prejudice) one more time you just need to throw a six once. Good Luck.

First of all, well done to you for wanting to change your life. I have the utmost respect for people like you. Have you thought about retail - a great way to meet people of your own age and build on your confidence. Perhaps you could get a saturday job. Why don't you try a temping agency - a great way to try different jobs out and quite often, you get offered full time jobs by the employer you are temping for. Don't feel useless, you need to be positive and persevere and you will get what you want. It is often harder to get a job when you haven't worked for a while but keep trying.

Don't get depress. I was just in the same situation as you were. Keep your faith and you don;t have to be a religious person in order to pray. Ask God for anything you need and he will answer all your prayers. Maybe not right away but he will. Also try networking, what I mean by that start talking to people you don't now and inquire on where they work or what they do or is the company or business hiring. Also look outside your field of work. Sometimes we only look for jobs of our interest and we don't look for jobs that we think we could do. Remember whatever job you get, you will have to get trained. Don't fell discourage a door will open for you and you will get that job you need.
In the meantime read more and continue to go on different web sites for jobs.

I think the best thing is don't be fussy. I've done lots of jobs for the money. I've worked at burger bars, cleaned offices & cleaned men toilets. You mey have to do 2 or even 3 jobs for your 27 hours. Don't give up. Good luck in your job hunting.

Volunteering is a good way to occupy your time whilst looking for work. Have you looked into telemarketing its not the best job in the world but they always seem to be around and they are quite good money. Just drop loads of CVs to websites and supermarkets.
Don't loose your confidence otherwise it will hinder you looking for work stay positive and good luck
