All of these are ones that I personally use and all are free. After you install any of them, make sure you update them to get the full affect.

Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Listen to phoenix and jibbarjabar. An anti-spyware product that advertises itself in a pop-up ad is almost certain to be a scam, so don't download it even if they say it's free.
Also, it sounds like your computer may actually have some nasties on it. If it isn't all better after you run Ad-aware and SpyBoy S&D, visit an anti-spyware forum for further, specialized assistance. Spywarewarrior.com is a good one; there are plenty of others out there. Good luck!

Any spyware detector that says you have problems before even scanning is a sham.
Download 2 programs:
Adaware: www.lavasoft.com
and
Spybot: www.safer-networking.org
update and run both of those and that will take care of 99% of all spyware/adware problems

Always check with spywarewarrior.com before you purchase and download ANY anti-spyware or anti-virus product!
Unfortunately, many "paid for" anti-spyware products are in fact either of limited usefulness or downright scams. When in doubt, look at the list of rogue anti-spyware solutions listed here:

You don't need to buy any antispyware program if you don't want to. There are many free antispyware apps that you can try to clean your PCs. You can install more than one on your pc, here are a few good ones.

There may be some hardware problems? I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some drive problems can be easily fixed by yourself using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
