I'm 5 2.... medium complexion... my breastline is 36 (i've got a broad back) i can fit in a size 4-5 however... when i tried some dresses on... its won't zip all the way up because of my back being too broad.... what kind of dress would look good on me? a long one?(but then again I'm short) what color should it be? i already have black so i want something different... should i get a tube dress (even though my bustline is big) or a halter dress?(to cover it).........please help....i'd very much appreciate it

A full skirt will balance out broad shoulders. Since you are on the petite side, stay away from long dresses, knee length or shorter will suit you. Also stay away from strapless or square necklines; they would make your top look boxy.

Wear any color that you like; you're the only one wearing it.

On a medium comlpexion deep red or gold would be beautiful. For a broach back/shoulders, don't go for halter dresses, they only draw attention to this area. Look for an empire waist with some detail to draw attention to your smaller waistline. Be sure the smallest area ofthe dress fits at the smallest area of your waist and floats away from you body. You can always have a tailor let the dress out an inch or so at the top (in the back around the zipper). Just be sure to ask the sales associate if it can be let out. An A-line dress (short or long) will help balance a broad back as well. Whether you go with a short or long dress depends upon the event. A long, deep red satin dress with an A-line would be great. At least I think. Best of luck!

I to am 5'2" and I have a bustline of 36. For my prom dress about 5 years ago. I wore a 2 pieace outfit. My top was a M and the bottom was a 4. It was perfect for me because I could not find one dress that would fit me in the waste and zip up for the top. Good luck on finding the perfect dress.

Go with a lace up back on the dress. This will make room for your chest. Look for lines that go upwards or arrows in the dress that point up. This will allow for making the eyes go upwards to make you look taller.
The dresses at www.PromDressShop.com have a lot of lace up back dresses.
