In short, because women of color are trying too hard to be Caucasian. Nobody complains about white women wearing contacts and coloring their hair because they are not attempting to look like ghetto queens with fake press on dragon nails and hair extensions/weaves. What I find repulsive are Asians who dye their hair blonde and try to act all Caucasian, yet cannot escape the fact that they are Asians and cannot ever be or act like Caucasians.

I call it the Michael Jackson complex where women of color have an issue with their own identity and want to be as white as they can. Sorry, but that still won't get them the job they are not qualified for.

Actually plenty of us do complain you're just not hearing it because it's not directed at you. It occurs because people should be comfortable with themselves and not try looking like something they're not. Not to mention, it's not always as obvious with a white woman unless of course she went from jet black hair one day to platinum blond the next. White people also tend to have more genetic diversity in regards to hair color and eye color. Of course this depends greatly on the races that may be in a person's direct family line. A black woman with blond hair and blue eyes would stand out in a crowd because that's typically not genetics at work and the unnatural is attention getting. Although it is entirely possible for a black person to be born with blue eyes or green eyes because there's a white person with that eye color somewhere back in the family line that dumped those into the genetic pool. It can not show up for several generations due to gene dominance/passiveness.

Honestly I know what you mean. I think people have too much time on their hands. In my opinion the problem people have with this is that it is perceived as wanting to be white. While perhaps some darker skinned women do it for this reason I don't believe it to be so for most.

Quite frankly, as a half black woman myself, I do highlight my hair. I find it flatters my skin tone. And as for the contacts? I do it on occasion. On a darker skinned person it really makes the eyes pop. It's all for effect!!

each and every so often it relatively is the component. of course somebody does not have suitable aqua colored eyes or deep dark dramatic blue. yet what if somebody purely needs a transformation from the favored? no longer something faux or incorrect approximately that. You assume persons are being man made with tips from donning colored contacts.

Well it doesn't look real, because it isn't genetically possible for them to have certain hair colors and eye colors. I guess everyone knows it's not real so it's like they're changing themselves to be the same as everyone else. With some people you can't tell what their natural hair and eye color should be, so no one thinks about if it's real or not because genetically speaking it could be natural. Black women with blonde hair though, it's not genetically possible, so it seems like they want to be like everyone else trying to be blonde. I don't see the big deal, I love black and dark brown hair.

It's like when a white women puts braids in her hair and get long fake nails. It doesn't look right. The truth is everyone is judgmental on everyone else's appearance and sometimes not their own. It's sad but true.

Because some feel that the blond, blue eyed woman is the ideal vision of beauty. History tells us that Europeans (the pale, blond, blue eyed) went to other countries and exploited the ethnic natives and forced them to realize that the "white" race is superior and that they can conform or die.

Today, the hair bleaching and contacts still symbolize that ideal that white people are superior, that people of color are still conforming to someone else's idea of beauty.

Think about Barbie dolls... How often will a little girl pick up the white doll rather than the Asian or African American one?

they probably think that black people(i'm also black too) are ghetto and they get pregnant at early ages and that means that they're racist but i would go up to their faces and say :i'm black and i can do what i want and nobody is going to stop me because i'm proud to be black and i'll show my stuff. also you're not the fashion police and if you have a problem then get to stepping because i'm keeping this and i don't care what you say because you aren't going to bring me down and just walk away. any woman is beautiful in their own way and can make their own descisions.

People can and do think whatever they want to.

However, I believe that to tell anyone that their personal style is unappropriate is way out of line. I assume they don't know any better and have never learned to communicate in a positive way. Just plain bad manners.

Have fun with your appearance, enjoy yourself.
