The problem may be easy or hard, depending on how much you have to remove to get to the wiring. First, check to see that the bulb mount(the piece the bulb sits inside of) isn't corroded. If it is, clean it all off with a small stainless steel wire brush and some emery cloth. Second, check the grounding and connections to the bulb mount. If the grounding is not good, simply re-ground it. If the wires aren't connected well enough, re-connect them and apply a small amount of fine tin-silver with flux added solder, not lead-based with acid solder. The acid solder will eventually dissolve the metal over time! Finally, when reinstalling all the parts and even re-connecting the grounding wires and the bulb, apply a small amount of dielectric grease(NOT petroleum jelly!!!) to all the electrical connections for a more sound and weather protected connection!!

First check that you are gettin a good earth. then check that you are getting a good live feed. You can do this with a test light. if both these are ok check the lamp unit for corrosion. where the light is situated on the vehicle it gets all the rain and the water can get into the light and corrode all the contacts. hope this helps

In that case the bulb has blown!Jus go to Halfords or a local garage and buy a new one, easy enough to replace!if you dont know how to then they will fit it for you!
Whoops sorry misread the question! check the earth wire and the connections to the bulb fitting!

Have you checked that water is not getting in? My corsa had this problem and it rusted the connections. Got a replacement part from local scrap yard.

The number plate lamp is just pressed into the bumper. This has to be prized out(without damaging your bumper). It is possible that the wires hare become detached or rusted contacts.
