I live in Minnesota...19 and work at Truth Hardware, as of now. Would it be wise to join a union? I am talking to a few employees they are saying it is a great idea, of course, they are in it. Would it really hurt to join one? Why not?

A union is like the mob, once you're in you don't get out (unless you change jobs). Unions were great when there were no laws pertaining to wages and hours of work, safety and worker's compensation, discrimination and harassment, workrules and discipline. But all that has changed. Unions can't guarantee jobs, they can't protect you if the company has "cause" for termination, they can't stop plant closure. They can charge dues (usually a percentage of wages), assessments (political action committees and strike funds) and and otherwise take part of your earnings.
It's your choice!!!
