You will need to change the pedal box but the gearbox casing should be the same and should bolt straight on to the engine.

The web site "www.neon.co.uk/..." forwards to New Electronics, a site for electronic design engineers.

Although I do not know if anyone has written about actually doing this conversion, http://www.neons.org , is an excellent Neon resource.

If you under take this project, be sure to take the wiring harness and computers from the donor car as well as the mechanical accoutrements. Manual and automatic cars have different sensors and computer programming.

It would be so much easier to buy a manual transmissioned car. However, I do realize that Neons are rare in the UK compared with the US. Good luck!

The box will generally fit but the drive shafts may be different. You will also need a flywheel from a manual car.
A problem my mate hit when he put a manual inti an automatic car was the engine was tuned (ECU etc) to provide maximum torque for the auto box. It meant his wheels when spinning by just touching the throttle in the wet in EVERY gear.

a p reg neon is only worth a few hundred pounds in full working order. maybe you should buy another car instead of spending it on parts and labour
