You have to believe in your self.... of course you can get work experience at the BBC - simply write a letter singing your own praises... work for cheap and when you get there lick a*se!!!!

Of course you derserve 2.1 for your efforts.. you deserve it, you are intelligent, articulate and ambitious... don't be surprised at your results!!

Be practical and don't just aim at the BBC, go for Bloomberg tv as they have a base in London, or CNBC which is more financial based news, couldn't give you advice on how to prepare your application but I should think they would want something sharp showing initiative and quick in terms of self awareness. If financial tv wasn't your initial aim but the bbc as it is more prestigious, I would still say try the financials as things there are just as if not more fast paced and you might find that it is an area you would enjoy as a journo. There are lots of 2:1s graduating every year and from the main countries in Europe so be prepared for the competition. Know what you want what they want and go for it.

The BBC is mostly interested in ignorant, biggoted and arrogant journalists these days, since they were *bought* by the warmongering neo-cons in the pre-Iraq days. You'd be really upset to discover that your hard investigations will be brushed under the carpet if they don't fit the mold.

Perhaps you should talk to some BBC journalists first to see if you can work with those jackasses.

Unfortunately, ITV has recently been taken by them too as the CEO of BBC moved there.
