One of the major themes is the fight bewteen good and evil. Eragon vs. Galbatorix. Plus I think anyother theme is the importance of having friends and allies. That no body can do stuff alone. Eragon could not have done anything in the book without Saphira and Brom.

I guess on the largest scale its a coming of age epic. It focuses on the evils of tyranny and how one small individual can make a difference and that it is important to stand up for what is right. Those i would say are the overacrching themes of the book.

The theme is science fiction fantasy where a young teenager finds a dragon egg and raises it to go on adventures.

theme or storyline? its about a young boy who finds a dragon egg and becomes the last dragonrider. I'm sure if you look it up online you can find a good synopsis of it. I read it a few years ago, very good. The author was extremely young when he wrote it too, making it that much more amazing!

This is a fairly standard coming of age story with a so far simplistic battle between good vs. evil.
