I'm waxing all psychological and deep. Hair bands do that to me.

My dad's been dead 6 years now. My mother frequently lets me know what successes my brothers are, how much she adores her grandchildren (their children) and what a disappointment I am.

So ...yeah.

Love them both but I could never be in a relationship with someone who disrespected me like they do each other. My father an alcoholic, still is cheating on my mother. My mother the church-going Christian who always forgives him and is never wrong. It doesn't matter if you prove her wrong she will never in a million years admit that she was wrong.

My mom is having health issues right now so I think that as much as I hate everything I have been through (being put in the middle of every argument, seeing my father with countless mistresses) I would rather swallow my pride and be by their side than regret it all after they are long gone.

After all they are your parents, No matter what!!!

me and my dad have been like oil and water since I became old enough to start forming opinions about stuff that matters in life.

my issue with my mom is that i have no flipping idea how she has tolerated him for almost 40 years, really. she doesn't depend on him financially, she's the breadwinner, and has been for years now. He's a bum that spend more time on the internet than most of you people and hasn't held a steady job for probably almost 20 years now.

guess that's why she's an alocoholic

boy am I glad i moved out 6 years ago!!

Yes, my parents were generally unloving and unaffectionate. The used money, toys, and gifts in place of real affection. I never had a birthday party, friends over for a sleepover, or even a hug, now that I think about it. It's all pretty sad.

My wife says that's why I'm such a grown up child.

No, they're both gone many years, now. Would love to see them again, but time only seems to go in one direction.
