That house and movie were filmed in Amityville, New York on Long Island in Suffolk County. Also, the house from the movie "Ghost Story" was filmed in upstate New York in Saratoga Springs.

The Amityville Horror House is located at 112 Ocean Avenue in Amityville, a village on the South Shore of Long Island, New York. In case you haven't heard, the book that was supposed to be based on a true story actually wasn't. Hope this helps.

Its in Amytyville. Though I believe the appearance of the house has been changed now too .
You do know thats based on an alleged true story? (the film) I say alleged as its now commonly believed to have been a hox carefully planned by George and Kathy Lutz to cash in on the house's history as the location of the DeFoe murders.

The house in the original was at the address mentioned here, but Ammityville has changed street names since the original came out. Because of the original... The remake did use a house in Wisconsin like the other poster said

funnily enough it's in Amityville!
however it is currently occupied by tenants who value their privacy intensely. The Amityville Police Department also patrols the neighborhood, and discourages visitors to the quiet community.

i thought they used a house in wisconsin for it. could be wrong but I thought I heard or read it somewhere.
