On a wireless network, this message may appear when you use an incorrect Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) key or if you do not have a WEP key.

Ensure that you both the wireless router and your network card are using the same WEP key.

Sometimes, you may receive this message even if your computer is currently connected to the Internet. To disable the message, follow these steps:

1. Click "Start", click "Run", type "ncpa.cpl", and then click "OK".
2. Double-click "Local Area Connection", and then click "Properties".
3. On the "General" tab, click to clear the "Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity" check box, click "OK", and then click "Close".

If this isn't a new setup problem (ie: first time you're connecting the laptop to the router), the router probably crashed. It happens. Unplug _everything_ from the back of the router. Shut the lid on the laptop. Wait a minute or two. Plug the power cord back into the router. Plug any hardline connections (ethernet, USB) back into the router. Open the laptop and let it try to reconnect. Let any hardwired computers try to reconnect. If any of them fail, right click and Repair on the connection to see if you can force a reconnect. If the laptop is the only device that you are having issues with at this point, you might have a wireless encryption key that needs to be entered to get it to talk to the router once it has established a basic connection.

By "everything" I assume you have a wireless card in your laptop or it is wireless ready. If that is the case, you need to go to control panel and look at your Internet connections and make sure you have a wireless connection enabled and not the wired connection.

Maybe the wireless card isn't strong enough. Try to restart the computer, then go as close as possible to the router. That worked on my teacher's laptop.

Good luck!

few things could be happening, the wirless internet could be set up incorrectly...a firewall could be blocking other computers from using the main computers internet...or the router is putting out a wireless signal but no internet...the last one commonly happens when a port goes out on the back of the router.

Try using different ethernet ports on the back and see if it helps...each time unplug the power chord from the back of the router for 10 seconds so it resets...

This same thing happend to 2 linksys routers I had...so if it's a linksys and out of return date and warranty...I'D SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!!!!

hehe just jokin...

no but really smash it with a hammer...

Make sure your wireless router is set up to act as a DHCP server (should be a setting in the router's admin configuration pages).
