Yes but not for much longer. It will soon be 18. Children starting secondary school next year will legally have to stay on until they are 18. Those already at secondary school will have the option of leaving at 16. The change will happen in 2013 thereby affecting those starting secondary school in or after 2008.

Yes 16. I can't see this government making the leaving age 18 so that more will go to University. They do everything they can to stop young people going to Uni, only the rich can afford the luxury of education here! If you are planning on leaving school look at night classes in what ever you want to do, not everyone needs to be a genius we need builders, plumbers, bus drivers, mechanics etc. etc. That's no disrespect to anyone doing any job it's about people doing what they want and if they hate education they should be able to do something they are good at and enjoy.

The school leaving age in UK is 16 (sixteen years of age). The UK-Gov want to raise this to 18 to encourage more children to take and pass exams and leave school with a qualification and go on to uni. etc.

Just be sure you can get a job where you can support yourself.
Sure leave school and work for minimum wage the rest of your life. Switch to a school that can address your problems or maybe home schooling or adult night classes. But without an education you will be living at home with your parents the rest of your life and that's worst than any thing the kids have done to you at school.

I'm not sure because if you have birthday between May and end of August you can leave school whilst you are still 15 because that would be the end of year 11.
thinking about it you must be able to, because you can legally make a decision about having sex and a baby so surely they cant tell you that you are not mature enough to leave school.
