If baby isn't in a good position to view between the legs...have the u/s make all the necessary measurements and ask if you can get up to go use the bathroom and then have a quick check to see if baby has moved. A good friend of mine had a stubborn baby who wouldn't show her parts until she emptied her bladder partway...that made Rebekah move to a new position and SHE was revealed.
Also if you are allowed to - drink some juice now. The fruit sugars often wake baby up and encourage movement.
Congrats on your little one - whether it be a he or a she. Our tradition with our 3 kids was to find out the gender then we celebrated by going to a department store and buying the coming home outfit/blanket.

WOW! You should not be nervous!!! You should be excited!!! (although i understand the nerves..i have 3 kids.) We could not see the sex with the first. The second they were wrong about the sex and the 3rd they figured it out right. It is kinda hit and miss, however most of the times they are right. babies seem to be more active at night and not in the day.....after birth as well :(
But it is LOTS OF FUN!!!! I'M SORRY I do not have any suggestions on how th make them active while in the womb. A lot of times a certain food will make them more active, but it depends on your baby. Mine was milk...but I do not know it your baby will react the same. You could give it a try though.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! THIS IS SUCH A HAPPY TIME FOR YOU!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!! AND KEEP US POSTED ON THE DR.'S FIND :) :) :) :)

I'm willing to bet that your baby will show you. It's easier to tell at this stage and the baby should wiggle on it's own since there'll be a tech rubbing your belly with a transducer.
Drink some juice first to sort of wake baby up too!!
Oh, and good luck!!! I hope you find a healthy baby in there who's willing to share it's secret between it's legs with you!!!!
Let us all know as soon as you get back home!!!!!!!

So far I have never had a problem with seein the babys gender with all 4 of my pregnancies. Hopefully you will be able to see it without any problems. The tech can try to get the baby to move by nudging the baby. Yesterday though I had an ultrasound and the tech wanted to give me a quick 4D snap shot of her and she was completely covering her face with her arm and we tried to get her to move, but she wouldnt..... Oh well. I really wanted to see her face, but didnt work. Good Luck and hope you can tell. Maybe have a soda or some juice before you go. Get the baby to move.

The doctor will more than likely wiggle the baby around for you. Don't be nervous. You will be on cloud nine when you find out it's sex. Good luck!!

First congratulations. Second, don't sweat the gender of the baby, just as long as it is healthy. I am not sure what you can do to make the baby wiggle more. Sorry, wasn't much help.

Drink at least 18-20 ounces of fluid--water is best. Don't go to the bathroom. Sometimes the technician will tell you to go potty because that makes the baby move sometimes if they can't clearly see the gender.

The technician knows how to wake the baby up and/or move him or her around. It just takes a gentle tap on your abdomen. You’re right - babies tend to move more when you are resting and get lulled to sleep when you are up & moving.
Don’t sweat it, no matter how active the baby is or isn’t, there is always a good chance they’ll be able tell it’s gender. Take it easy, and good luck!

Dr says to drink orange juice, or orange soda... the sugar in it will wake the baby. Don't dirnk anything with caffien as it'll make him active now but then he'll pass out for your exam. Drink it 20 mins before your apt, and then some right before you go in :)

When I had maternity rotation, we'd give the moms some fruit juice when we performed the non-stress tests to get the babies kicking and moving.
eta: Apple or cranberry juice is best. Orange juice isn't a good chioce as most moms finds it gives them bad heartburn.
