My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. My husband has had a sperm analysis, so we know that his sperm work the way they should. Is it really necessary for me to elevate my bottom after sex. If so, how long should I do it?

That is not necessary as the sperm themselves have the mobility with the use of cilia so swim up, this being the natural reflex. Taking time to relax afterwards would certainly make the environment more stress free which probably wouldn't hurt for your chances. The majority of females ovulate half way through the cycle which would be approximately 14 days. Sperm can live in the vaginal enviroment for up to 48 hours. You probably already have a calendar with the most fertile days circled but if you don't and need some assistance please email me and I explain this.

You are asked to elevate your bottom after sex, this is to allow the sperm to flow into you. You could also place a pillow or two under your bottom and that will keep it elevated and allow a deeper penetration while you are having sex with your husband, (it works as good as elevating your bottom after sex).

About 15 mintues
Having regular sex is the best way to get pregnant. Couples often try to time everything perfectly for ovulation but do not have sex when they think they are not ovulating. It is true that sex that is not within the time of ovulation will not result in pregnancy. However, because women do not always ovulate when they think they will, having sex three times a week will help to a woman cover her bases, so to speak, and not miss an opportunity to get pregnant.

I think that is more of an old wives tale...I would say that just laying still for about 10-15 min after sex would be fine. The sperm knows what to do.

I'm sure my mother did no such thing and I'm pretty sure that people have gotten pregnant all throught the ages without such nonsense as a raised bottom. Remember, stress affects a lot of things. Above all else, It's sex! Have fun. Enjoy it. You'll get there.

Just place a pillow underneath you bottom for about 20 mins. That's all it takes for sperm to be on its way.

Good luck.

Elevation is not necessary. If you want to conceive my suggestion is, get to know your body. How long is your period? When are you most fertile? When do you ovulate? You need to know your body clocks! ALL OF THEM! You should have a check up too. Good luck...

it is not nessesary, but the most important is not to be nervous about getting pregnant.
It is the worst thing you can do. Don' t think if you should do this or that.Just have sex enjoy it and since there is no problem you soon will be looking your enormous belly on the mirror touching it with tender love.

That is a myth. It was commonly believed centuries and possibly decades ago, but is untrue. There will be some "leaking" afterwards but this does not indicate that the attempt at conception was unsuccesful.
