Once you divide by 2, you are left with your number + 5. When you divide, it halfs your number that you already multiplied by two and the ten you added to it. The division basically cancels out the multiplication earlier and adds on the 10/2, which equals 5. Then when you subract your number, you get 5. Instead of adding 10, you can, for example, add 16, and your final answer will always be 8, half of the number you added to it.

Think a number.: let it be x
Multiply it by 2: 2x
Add 10 to the result : 2x+10
Then divide it by 2: x + 5
Subtract the number you thought in the beginning from the result: x + 5 - x = 5
Answer will be ALWAYS 5.....!!!! Yes.
Do u know how it comes...????
The term containing x is doubled in the second line, halved in the fourth line, giving back x. And subtracting x from it removes the x.
In the third line you add 10 and in the fourth line you divide by two, so it gives 5. No change in the fifth line.
That explains the result.

You know, You are really very intelligent. How did you figure this out? Though people call me a math whiz, even I don't know how. But I have got something similar, take a fraction with a denominator of 3. if you try to change it to a decimal format, the answer will probably come on something like 0.3333333...
I think the most possible conclusion in your trick is that it has the factors 10 and 2 being used. 10 divided with 2 is 5.

number = X

X * 2 = 2X

2X + 10 = 2X + 10

(2X + 10) / 2 = X + 5

X + 5 - X = 5

It is half of the number you added. So you get 5. Instead of 10 add any other even number (e.g. 16, 24, 36) and in the last you will always get half of the even number you have added. i.e.
(e.g. 8, 12, 18 for 16, 24, 36 respectively). Try for yourself.

Ok, I will give it a shot, lets assume our number is x
Step 1, multiply by 2 , so we have 2x
Step 2, add 10, so now we have 2x + 10
Step 3, divide by 2, so now we have x + 5
Step 4, subtract original number, so we have 5
Hope that helps
