no, they don't go by age, but they do go by eligibility
if you've never played college ball, you can walk on at age 60 if you want, as long as you're at least a part time student

It used to be 25 maximum for division I football, I wasn't aware it had changed. It was established back in the 20's when it was more prestigious to play colege ball than pro, and players were having long careers in college. Probably doesn't make much sense any more.

There is no age limit for college football...but you start your eligibility the first day you attend colege....anywhere....this includes Community colleges....you get 5 consecutive years to play 4 seasons....in rare occasions the NCAA has given athletes a 6th year if they lost a year do to a legitimate injury.

hey john s Brett Favre is 149 years old? dam he looks good for his age!!! LOL. and when i tried out for calgary i was 17 and i was told i needed to be 18 or older to make the roster but i could have been on the practice roster at 17
