His ears are gonna pop no matter what you do because of pressure from altitude change. If he is still on bottle fill it with his fav drink and give to him when the plane starts descending. Bring his fav toys and plenty of snacks. Be parient with him and dont worry what other passengers think about what he is doing (if he is crying etc) your responsibility is your son not the other passengers. Good Luck.

Talk to your pediatrician before giving him any meds.

Tylenol won't help, but Childrens Benadryl may, although think twice before giving him anything, it's not a good idea... Best thing you can do is get an evening flight so your baby could sleep natually during the whole time you're in the air. I had to travel internationally with my son, and, boy, I can tell you it's not fun. He kept throwing up Benadryl (I really regret giving it to him, and if I have to fly again, I will not take ANY medicine at all), and all I could do was rock him to sleep.

For his ears, have him chew a binky during take-off and landing, or drink something. I nursed my son, and that was quite enough, his ears were fine.

You can also get fun toys to keep him entertained during the flight. Flight attendants usually have brnad new toys handy for cases like this. Call your airline to see if they can give you a bassinet, too. There's plenty of options, and no ready recipe for every situation! Good luck!

firstly how long is ur journey?? I flew with my 12 month old on a 22hrs flight! boy...it was awful. anywayz... u cud give him something to suck on..bottle..pacifier. Well it was 2 landings and 2 takeoffs...my daughter didn't feel a thing!!! It may not be the same with all the babies though.
Yeah I did give her Tylenol it helped her a little bit.
You buy some new toys for him and give to play only in the flight. Get some crackers and cookies (from Gerber). On whole try to keep him engaged.
I had let my little girl on loose...she was crawling all along the plane talking to every new face she saw!

Its not going to be as hard as you think (Won't be easy-peasy either though, you know, balance in all things)
I travelled about 28 hours, by myself with my son. Twice when he was 10 months, then with hubby when he was 18 months (again 28 hours) then most recently, when he was 2 and a half (yes, 28 hours yet again - its about 12 hours to Singapore -from NZ- then another 10 hours to Paris)
Honestly, the older he got, the more difficult flying became 8-)
When he was 10 months, he had bottles at take off and landing (in between of course) and he was fine. We do long hours of travel, and usually have only a couple of hours stop-over because we like to just get it (the travel) out of the way. Our Doctor gave us some Phenergan (I think that's how its spelt) but we have never had to use it. I guess we are a bit lucky.
Take all medication he may need in your carry on. And as many books and toys as possible. Don't forget some snacks.
The airhostesses (on Singapore Airlines anyway) are extremely helpful and even took Tyreese when I needed to go loo. Don't be shy to ask them for help if you need to. More then likely, they will be happy to help.
If you have a stop over, ask your travel agent to get some help at the stop over airport for you. They'll be able to aid with bags and then you won't have to worry about searching a huge airport for some where to rest, then have to worry of trying to find the next gate. Let baby play on the ground (on his blanket) for as much of the stop-over as possible.
Make sure YOU are as comfortable as can be expected, baby will know if your upset or stressed about anything.

Bon Voyage!!

while you're breastfeeding, nurse at take-off and touchdown. If bottle-feeding, furnish a bottle then, or a soother. deliver snacks, formulation, wipes, diapers, small toys, a cuddly and a sling. that's all you ought to choose. Carseat in case you choose one there or in case you have offered a seat on your toddler (we on no account did). Stroller - you should use your stroller around the airport and gate-verify it purely till now getting on the airplane. formulation, and the different drinks or powders on your toddler must be in a seperate zip-loc bag which you will ought to take out and teach to secure practices once you bypass by way of. deliver greater effective formulation in case of a postpone (been there, finished that). We travelled from Buffalo to Florida whilst my first toddler replaced into 9 months previous and he or she replaced into outstanding. The flight and the full holiday replaced into super! We travelled from Buffalo to California with my 2d whilst she replaced into 5 months and the finished holiday - which includes flight the two approaches - replaced right into a nightmare.

give him a bottle the sucking motion is like chewing gum. then use a pacifier if you can. Even if you're against them most of the time it will keep your baby from being in pain and isn't that most important
